I have just finished the Fab Academy 2013 experience. Fab Academy is a global education program directed by Neil Gershenfeld, director of the Center for Bits and Atoms at the Machassusets Institute of Technology (MIT). I took the course in Fab Lab Barcelona and my local instructors were Tomas Diez, co-founder of the Smart Citizen Project and Luciano Betoldi. You can find my chronicles during the academy here. Fab Academy dramatically changed my life. Truth be told, I didn’t even know what I was going to do with my life a few months before. Looking backwards I don’t know wheter I found Fab Academy or Fab Academy found me, because if I roll back and think how I ended up here, it has been all a series of coincidences. This is the story. Makerbeam is a mini (it is really small and light) T-slot anodised aluminum construction set. It consists on beams, 90º-60º-45º brackets, M3 nuts, and bolts (both standard and self locking), and the most important feature… bearings!!! It will make you remember those old Meccano sets (if you are that old).
